Canurta Therapeutis is an Ontario-based biotechnology company developing high-value therapeutics from plant-derived compounds and clean bio-industrial inputs. We combine applied AI/ML with modern bioprocess and formulation workflows to accelerate R&D, improve evidence quality, and compress time-to-market.
Technology and defence application: Canurta extracts and enriches scarce prenylated flavonoids, including cannflavins, from waste biomass and is developing biosynthetic production methods. We are exploring their potential in musculoskeletal recovery and force health protection, with civilian and military-health applications that require further preclinical and clinical validation.
Relevant DND sector: Medtech, particularly personnel health and musculoskeletal recovery. Potential applications include HFC-based topical formulations, subject to further validation.
Technology Readiness Level: Our current internal assessment is TRL 9 for Hemp Flavonoid Complex (HFC) production and TRL 4 for the RESTORE v1 topical formulation. These reflect different stages of development, not validation for military use. Defence-specific applications remain exploratory.
