VSemi is piloting a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor as a low cost alternative for LiDAR for medium range applications such as obstacle detection, indoor mapping, gesture recognition, and people counting. Their sensors have low power consumption and can operate in strong sunlight or complete darkness.
